ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) - All lanes on Interstate 20 in Atlanta reopened this morning after briefly being closed following a deadly car crash, killing the driver and leaving two others in critical condition. The crash is currently under investigation.
Just shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday, 26-year-old Dominic Johnson, a member of the local rap group Dem Homicide Boyz was driving his 2005 Cadillac westbound on I-20 when he struck the center barrier near the Downtown Connector. The Georgia Highway Patrol said Johnson's car slid on top of the concrete barrier then rolled several times into the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
Troopers said it appeared Johnson may have been speeding. Alcohol is also said to have been a factor in the crash when they found an alcohol bottle on the floorboard of the passenger seat.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other passengers in the sedan, Christopher Banks, 22, an actor out of Dallas, TX and DeMarcus Phillips, 25, another member of Dem Homicide Boyz were immediately rushed to Atlanta Medical Center and are listed in critical condition.
